Jaylen Ross, Owner and Lead Technician

Jaylen started Marlow Garage Door Repair Yonkers in 2002 after spending six years working for a national garage door franchise where he kept seeing the same pattern: technicians pressured to sell replacements when a $40 cable would have fixed the problem. He left, bought a used van, and started taking calls in Yonkers. Twenty-three years later, he still goes out on jobs himself when the schedule is tight. Jaylen is certified on all eight brands we service, but the certification he talks about most is the one he learned from a retired doorman in Riverdale: how to talk to a nervous homeowner without talking down to them. If you call and hear someone say “let me tell you straight what that’s going to cost,” that’s Jaylen.

Marcus T., Senior Installer

Marcus has been with Marlow for 11 years, and before that he spent a decade doing commercial door work in Manhattan, which means he’s seen every way a door can fail. He’s our go-to for torsion spring replacement, the horizontal coil above your door that does most of the lifting. When people ask how many springs he’s replaced, Marcus shrugs and says “thousands, but who’s counting.” He’s the guy we send when a job requires precision that most companies would call the manufacturer for. Off the clock, Marcus coaches youth basketball at the Yonkers YMCA on Riverdale Avenue. He has a habit of humming while he works, which the crew teases him about constantly.

Dana P., Service Coordinator

Dana is the voice on the other end of the line when you call (845) 407-9237, and she’s been doing it for 8 years. She started as a part-time dispatcher and now runs our entire scheduling board, which means she knows every technician’s location by reading the Relay tracking system and can tell you, honestly, when your tech will arrive. Before Marlow, Dana worked in a medical office, and it shows: she treats every call like a patient intake, asking the right questions so the technician arrives knowing what to expect. She lives in Getty Square and walks to work most days. If you call at 2 a.m. with a door stuck open in the wind, Dana is still the one who answers. She’ll tell you exactly what to do until the tech gets there.

Kevin R., Apprentice Technician

Kevin joined us two years ago after working as an auto mechanic in Mount Vernon, a background that translates surprisingly well to garage door work. Same torque patterns, same cable tension physics, same need to not rush. He’s in the final stretch of his apprenticeship under Marcus, which means he handles a lot of the cable repair work, the thin steel wires that run along the sides of the door and help guide it up and down. Kevin is the first one to admit he’s still learning, and that’s why we send him out with a senior tech on anything involving torsion springs. Outside of work, Kevin restores a 1991 Chevy pickup in his driveway, treating the rust spots with the same patience he brings to a misaligned track in Bryn Mawr Park.
